No. You can connect your netbook to your monitor and set the resolution to the native resolution of your computer monitor.

thirdly, although i would love to use just one computer at work and home (i.e. my netbook), if i ever want to buy a CPU for the requirements posted above, what processor should i buy which is the best at the price to performance ratio keeping in mind my requirements?

The current atom processor in my netbook results in some lag when i open too many tabs and/or when i open multiple word and pdf documents. not some lag. too much lag.
Even an old dual core processor will do. Intel Atom processors are built for power efficiency over performance and that's what causes the lag. If you keep lots of tabs open, it would be good to invest some money into adding more RAM to your PC.

GTA5 can be played with any Intel dualcore 2 Ghz+, 4 GB RAM, a budget gpu. You don't need to invest 30k for it.

You can play GTA5 on a core 2 duo rig. Just add another 2 GB ram stick, change the psu. Get the Corsair CX430. Add an gpu

The i5 is slightly overkill for the GPU you are gonna buy. I would go with DNA's suggestion.
